Huddersfield Town's on-loan Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe has revealed he is working through training programmes with both clubs in order to keep himself fit during the ongoing suspension of the football season.

Smith Rowe joined Huddersfield on loan for the remainder of the season back in the January transfer window, and has gone on to make ten appearances for the Terriers, scoring once and providing two assists during some impressive performances for Danny Cowley's side.

Now it seems the 19-year-old is trying to catch the eye of both clubs off the pitch as well as on it, by working with both teams during the current lockdown.

Speaking in an interview with Youtube host Timsby about how he is maintaining his fitness despite the position he and the rest of the football world finds itself in, Smith Rowe revealed: “Arsenal sent me a Wattbike and I’ve got a programme from them, a programme from Huddersfield. I’m kind of getting through both at the moment."

Discussing how he is finding the challenge of combining the two training programmes, the midfielder continued: “It is difficult to be fair. It’s hard man. It’s hard when you’re not training. The main thing is about ticking over, staying fit and stuff.

“Today I jumped on a Wattbike this morning, did a hard session and a yoga session in the afternoon with all the Arsenal boys. It’s difficult man.”

According to reports from football.London, Huddersfield and Arsenal are in regular contact over the workload given to Smith Rowe, with the Championship side assigning him the majority of his tasks, and the Gunners providing additional support, which Smith Rowe clearly seems keen to take.

Indeed, it is thought the teenager is even going above and beyond what is being demanded of him by both clubs, by embarking on daily runs of between five and ten kilometres, in an attempt to return to action in as good a condition as possible.

The Verdict

Fair play to Smith Rowe here.

With the work he appears to be putting in, there is no doubt he ought to be more than ready to get back underway again, whenever that may be, and it isn't just physically that this work ought to benefit him.

The approach he is taking also shows a great deal of commitment and maturity for such a young player, something that should lead to Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta being willing to place a significant amount of trust in him when he returns to the Emirates, which could even lead to increased first-team opportunities for the teenager.
