Huddersfield Town are hoping to complete the loan signing of Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell before today’s transfer deadline, according to The Mirror.
The 19-year-old has already had a stint with the Terriers this season, featuring eight times in a six-week stay at the club, before returning to the Foxes at the start of January.
The defender has made three cup appearances for Claudio Ranieri’s side this season, but hasn’t been involved in the league, and with Leicester out of the FA Cup, Chilwell’s involvement is likely to be limited at the King Power Stadium.
Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have also been linked with a permanent move for the England youth international, but Leicester have insisted that the highly-rated teenager is not for sale during this window.
However, the report claims Huddersfield could wait for the loan window to reopen later this month if they can’t agree terms with Leicester today.
Huddersfield had one of their strongest runs of the season so far during Chilwell’s previous loan, winning four of the eight games that he featured in, while recording three clean sheets.
Chilwell joined Leicester’s first-team squad in 2015 after being named academy player of the year last season, making his senior debut in the League Cup in October.
