Huddersfield Town have made Charlton Athletic boss Lee Bowyer their number one choice to become their new manager, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Terriers are still on the lookout for a new boss after parting company with Jan Siewert just three games into the season - the German won just one out of 19 games in charge at the John Smith's Stadium.

Plenty of names have been linked with the vacant role, with Nigel Adkins and interim boss Mark Hudson both in contention to become the new Town manager according to the Yorkshire Post.

But now, The Mirror claim that Charlton boss Bowyer is Huddersfield's main target to replace Siewert, given the job that he has done at The Valley over the last couple of years.

Despite working under a tight budget, the 42-year-old led the Addicks to promotion via the League One play-offs against Sunderland last season.

Charlton are still unbeaten in the Championship this season winning four out of their opening six games, and they currently occupy 2nd spot in the league table.

It remains to be seen whether Bowyer leaves Charlton for the Terriers, but after signing a new deal at the start of the season, it looks unlikely.

The Verdict

I would be absolutely shocked if Bowyer were to leave Charlton for Huddersfield to be honest - he has been an absolute revelation at the helm of the Addicks.

He has built such a good, tight-knit squad under no real budget at all this summer, and they have got off to a perfect start in the Championship.

Huddersfield arguably have a better squad on paper, but would Bowyer want to leave high-flying Charlton for a struggling side in the bottom half? I doubt it.
