Huddersfield Town manager Danny Cowley has issued an update on the club's potential transfer situation ahead of the upcoming January window, including his verdict on the future of in form striker Karlan Grant.

Speaking to the media ahead of Town's clash with Nottingham Forest on Saturday, Cowley addressed the speculation around the 22-year-old as well as commenting on other situations the club could face.

The 22-year-old only arrived at Town in the last January window but a haul of 12 goals in 22 league games so far this term has attracted interest from the Premier League.

The striker has reportedly attracted interest from Wolves and Bournemouth in recent weeks and manager Danny Cowley was quick to address the strikers situation again on Thursday.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds on Thursday, Cowley revealed that: "It would take a monumental sum of money for us to even consider losing him, he is a key player for us, he has scored a high quantity of goals and high quality as well and he has played a big part in our resurgence in recent weeks."

"He is valued very, very highly by us and is very important to us, so we wouldn't want to lose him at this stage," Cowley added, "But in football, I have learned never to say never because it is a fluid, crazy game."

Cowley also revealed that there has been good interest for Adama Diakhaby, Isaac Mbenza and Terence Kongolo but wouldn't be drawn in committing to reports linking the Terriers with Liverpool striker Rhian Brewster.

Town host Nottingham Forest on Saturday hoping to stretch their unbeaten run to three games, with Grant looking to add to the goal he scored against Wigan Athletic last time out.

The Verdict

After a disastrous relegation from the Premier League last term and a worrying start to life back in the Championship, Town have managed to start to slowly pull away from the relegation zone.

One of the main reasons for Town's revival is the goals of Karlan Grant and Terriers fans will be praying the 22-year-old is still at the club come the end of the January window.

In terms of outgoings, fans may be relaxed over the likes of Terence Kongolo, Adama Diakhaby and Isaac Mbenza being shown the door if it means looking after the club's finances, as long as Grant remains with the club.

It looks likely Town will be reaching into the Premier League loan market to strengthen their squad and it will be interesting to see over the coming weeks, who they have in mind.
