It's safe to say that the 2016/17 season is a league campaign that will live long in the memory of the Huddersfield Town supporters.

It was the season where they achieved a shock promotion into the Premier League under the guidance of David Wagner.

The Terriers finished fifth in the Championship table after a number of impressive showings throughout the campaign, which saw them take on Sheffield Wednesday in their play-off semi-final.

They held their nerve as well, as the Terriers beat the Owls on penalties at Hillsborough to spark jubilant scenes from the travelling Huddersfield Town supporters.

Danny Ward was the hero in that game, and the shot-stopper delivered once again on the biggest stage in English football in the Championship play-off final.

Huddersfield took on Reading, and in a game of few clear-cut chances, the Terriers came out on top on penalties once again, as Ward saved from Jordan Obita to book their spot in the Premier League the following season.

Huddersfield Town midfielder Jonathan Hogg took to

Hogg and his Huddersfield Town team-mates are struggling in the Championship at the moment though, with the Terriers currently sat 18th in the second tier standings, and just three points clear of the relegation zone.

The Verdict:

This will be a moment that lives long in the memory of Huddersfield Town fans.

They couldn't have done it a much more difficult way by winning both games on penalty shoot-outs, but there is no better feeling than seeing your side win at Wembley.

Although their stay in the Premier League was a relatively brief one, supporters will still hold that promotion-winning season as one of the best in the club's history.

They're struggling in the Championship at the moment though, and Hogg will be hoping his side can finish this year's campaign strongly when fixtures get back underway.
