Huddersfield Town decide against offering contract to ex-Premier League striker

Leon Best will not be offered a contract by Huddersfield Town, according to HITC Sport.

The striker has spent time at the club on trial, playing in development games but it is believed that the Terriers have now ended their interest.

This followed Best’s release from Blackburn Rovers in the summer where he endured a torrid time at Ewood Park, where he failed to perform and was therefore shipped out on loan three times before he left by mutual consent.

The 29-year-old has proven he has the ability at times during his career after he sealed a move to Newcastle United from Coventry and he found the net six times in 11 appearances in one Premier League season.

The Former Magpies Forward will now have to continue his search for a new club as he remains a free agent.

Chris Powell’s Huddersfield currently sit in 18th place in the Sky Bet Championship, having accumulated ten points from ten league games so far this season.

Best would have definitely added some experience and power to the club’s frontline, but Powell seemingly felt he wasn’t a beneficial addition to the club.
