Huddersfield Town have confirmed that young defender Rarmani Edmonds-Green has left the club to join Swindon Town on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 21-year-old was recalled early from his loan spell with National League side Bromley, and went on to make two league appearance for Huddersfield's first team.

But with Huddersfield recently adding experienced defender Richard Stearman to their ranks, it only pushed Edmonds-Green further down the pecking order in Danny Cowley's plans.

Speaking in an interview with the club's official website, Cowley issued his thoughts on the defender's temporary move away from the club.

“This is a really good opportunity for Rarmani.

“From a selfish point of view, we wanted to keep him close. He’s a great kid, a great trainer and is really good around the place."

The Huddersfield boss went on to reveal why he decided to loan the young defender out, and labelled the move to Swindon as a 'great step'.

"We had to put the future first and you have to take a long-term view whenever possible, which is why we’ve sent him out on loan.

"This is a great step for him. Swindon are fighting at the top of League 2 and it’ll be a fantastic experience. The loan will then provide us with clarity in the summer of what his next stepping stone is."

Edmonds-Green could be in line to make his debut for Swindon Town when they face Newport County, as they look to retain top-spot in the fourth tier of English football.

Huddersfield are next in action when they take on high-flying Brentford on Saturday, in what is certain to be a tricky test for the Terriers.

The Verdict:

I think this is the best move for both parties involved this month.

Edmonds-Green isn't near the starting XI for Huddersfield at the moment, and I think he'll learn a lot from heading out on loan to Swindon Town for the remainder of this year's campaign.

If he can do that, then he'll be in line to challenge for a starting spot in Danny Cowley's side in the future.
