Huddersfield Town chairman Dean Hoyle has challenged the club’s supporters to “make all the difference” in the race for promotion, reports the Huddersfield Daily Examiner.

David Wagner’s side are currently third in the Sky Bet Championship, and with just nine fixtures of the season remaining, still stand a chance of breaking into the automatic promotion places.

Town are currently six-points behind second-placed Brighton and Hove Albion and seven adrift of league leaders Newcastle United, but have a game-in-hand over their closest rivals.

The Championship run-in begins this weekend with Wagner’s side welcoming Burton Albion to the John Smith’s Stadium, and Hoyle has encouraged the Town fans to help them in their quest for the Premier League, he said:

“I honestly believe that the support of our fans can make all the difference over the next nine games.

“It sounds like a cliché, but we’ve heard so many people comment on the atmosphere at the John Smith’s Stadium this season and it does make a difference.

“Personally and on behalf of everyone else at the club, I’d like to thank our fans for what they’ve created this season.”

Wagner’s side suffered a setback in the fight for promotion in their last league outing, losing 4-0 to Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

Town now have back-to-back home fixtures against Burton and Norwich City in the coming week, where Wagner will be hopeful his side can add to the pressure already on the top-two.
