David Wagner, 44, has been in charge at Huddersfield Town for less than a week; but he has already announced which direction he wishes to take the club in.
Wagner is yet to manage a match, after watching Huddersfield’s tough 3-0 home defeat by Leeds United from the stands.
Speaking to the Guardian, Wagner said: “Everybody knows where we are from. We are from Dortmund and everybody knows what kind of football we play there and this is exactly what we would like to bring to Huddersfield.”
Borussia Dortmund are traditionally associated with counter-attacking football: keeping men behind the ball and then getting forwards quickly.
However, after their recent success, Dortmund had to revert to an attacking style of play. So, perhaps, Wagner is implementing a Borussian influence upon the Championship club.
Wagner’s side currently sit in lowly 19th place in the Sky Bet Championship, and face a tricky encounter with Sheffield Wednesday in their next league fixture.
