Huddersfield Town picked up another important victory at the John Smith’s Stadium this afternoon, beating Queens Park Rangers 2-0 thanks to goals from Josh Koroma and Harry Toffolo.

Koroma (3) opened the scoring for Carlos Corberan’s side, with Toffolo (39) doubling Town’s lead and handing Mark Warburton’s R's a third consecutive defeat in the Championship.

Koroma has taken on the burden of becoming this Huddersfield side’s main source of goals and when he picked up a Carel Eiting pass just minutes in, he only had one thing on his mind.

The forward drove into the QPR half and to the edge of the area, where he produced a stunning finish beyond Seny Dieng from 20 yards.

Dieng denied Toffolo moments later as Corberan’s side enjoyed the better of the opening exchanges.

Koroma was providing a real problem for Todd Kane on the left and was off-target on 22 minutes after working himself another shooting chance.

Chris Willock tested Ben Hamer shortly afterwards with QPR’s first meaningful moment in the final third.

Failure to build on that will have frustrated Warburton, who from his low perch on a cool box watched Huddersfield continue to pull his side around the pitch.

Pipa, Lewis O’Brien and Koroma combined to tee up Fraizer Campbell on 35 minutes, but the striker’s shot never had enough purchase on it to properly trouble Dieng.

A second goal was coming, though, with Huddersfield getting what they deserved heading into half-time.

Koroma found room on the left and slipped Toffolo into space, with the left-back finishing well beyond Dieng.

The tide certainly didn’t turn heading out of half-time, with Pipa forcing Dieng into more work on 56 minutes with a stinging left-foot drive.

The right-back’s desire to get forward was lighting up a slow start to the second period, with Pipa laying on a chance for O’Brien shortly after the hour; his clever effort saved by Dieng.

Yoann Barbet saw a shot blocked by Toffolo after a well-worked corner, but Warburton’s flurry of changes after half-time were yet to make an impact.

Dominic Ball eventually tested Hamer’s glove work heading into stoppage time, but the writing had been on the wall for the R’s since the opening exchanges and a lack of defensive discipline left them facing a third loss on the spin.

Koroma and Toffolo the difference, then. Not for the first time and, certainly, not for the last.
