Manager David Wagner has got his Huddersfield side playing excellent possession based attacking football, and has seen his side reap the rewards of that so far this season, with some excellent displays.

However, the Terriers form has taken a dip in recent weeks and they were beaten 3-2 by relegation-threatened Cardiff City last time out.

The club still remarkably sit in 4th place in the Sky Bet Championship after picking up 9 wins from the opening 17 league games and can certainly be proud of their excellent start.

Many fans are now optimistic that the club has what it takes to achieve a play-off spot this year but, if they are to do that then they may need to strengthen in January.

Wagner could potentially scout north of the border to bring in some talent in January, in particular, the Scottish giants Rangers who are blessed with an abundance of talent on their books.

Things are hard at Ibrox right now, despite their recent rise up the table, and perhaps taking advantage of that would be wise.

This article is going to take a look at TWO players the Terriers could potentially poach...

Martyn Waghorn

Martyn Waghorn is certainly someone who will be attracting a lot of attention from English clubs in January, and one club who should be taking a keen interest in the forward is Huddersfield Town.

The 26-year-old has been excellent since his move north of the border to join Rangers, and has netted a remarkable 36 times in 43 games for the club.

His best goalscoring campaign at Championship level came during the 2009/10 campaign during a loan spell with Leicester City. Throughout that campaign, he made a total of 43 league appearances for the club, scoring 12 times in the process.

He has been touted for a potential departure from Ibrox in the New Year and would certainly represent quite the coup for Huddersfield.

Barrie McKay

Rangers starlet Barrie McKay is certainly someone who should be on Huddersfield Town's radar this January.

He is extremely highly rated at Ibrox and appears to have bags and bags of potential.

Despite being just the tender age of 21, McKay has already made over 100 appearances for Rangers, scoring 15 goals in the process from his position out wide.

The young man is comfortable on either flank, as well as in behind the striker in a number 10 role.

McKay’s potential has also been recognised by the Scotland national team for whom he has been capped at under-18, under-19 and under-21 level.

McKay may see his future lying with a bigger club than Huddersfield in the long-term, though a move to the Terriers at this stage of his career would give himself an excellent platform to prove he has what it takes to excel in the English leagues.
