Yorkshire Post journalist, Leon Wobschall, has confirmed on his personal Twitter account that Huddersfield Town are set to finish above Leeds United for the first time since the 1961/62 season.

Last night, David Wagner’s side recorded a 1-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers, to move eight-points clear of their West Yorkshire rivals and secure a place in the Sky Bet Championship’s Play-Offs.

Huddersfield are the first side to secure their qualification for the Play-Offs, with Reading, Sheffield Wednesday and Fulham set to join Wagner’s side.

Leeds had also been on course to join Huddersfield in the top-six, but four defeats from six fixtures in April, has seriously dented the club’s Play-Off ambitions, with Fulham set to pip Garry Monk’s side to sixth.

Both Huddersfield and Leeds have surprised many this season by competing at the top end of the table, but it will be Wagner’s Terriers who challenge for a place in the Premier League.

Town have not competed in the top-flight since 1972.
