Izzy Brown's season is one that will not live long in the memory - for himself or fans of Leeds United.

Arriving at Elland Road on loan from Chelsea back in the summer, he was expected to deliver similar performances to the ones that helped Huddersfield Town seal a shock promotion two seasons earlier.

But, in the end, he made just two appearances - one in the league and one in the play-offs - as he struggled badly with injury problems, racking up a total of just 11 first-team minutes.

His stock has plummeted massively, so what now for the 22-year-old?

Well, it is possible that the with whom he had so much success two years ago could well be the answer.

After a plucky and impressive first ever season in the Premier League, Huddersfield Town were emphatically relegated back to the second-tier with well over a month of the season remaining.

But with the knowledge that a promotion to the Premier League was such a big achievement in the first place, spirits still remain relatively high at the John Smiths stadium.

However, thoughts will have to turn quickly as to how they will prepare for next season and there is a good chance that the cogs will already be turning in a number of transfer deals.

After such a dismal season, though, it is very unlikely that any of those deals involve Izzy Brown.

But they should.

Sometimes a player can be at their most dangerous when they have a point to prove, and there are very few players in the Championship with more of a point to prove than Brown.

Having found the net five times in 21 appearances during his last loan spell with the Terriers, Leeds United's Yorkshire rivals could be the ideal place for him.

Let's not forget that Huddersfield will need players who will go out next season with intensity and desire to bounce back - so surely Brown is a perfect fit?

There are no guarantees it will pay off. His last season proved that better than anything. But it is a gamble that Huddersfield must take given how well things have gone in the past.
