Huddersfield have set their sights on Rapid Vienna's Boli Mbombo as their second summer signing, report The Sun.

They could face a challenge from Burnley however, who would likely be able to offer more in terms of transfer payment and wages to the player.

The 23-year-old is a cousin of Romelu Lukaku, so will be aware of the type of football played in England, and perhaps more crucially which club would benefit him the most.

The Sun report that a £3m bid is being considered by The Terriers, who are in need of a left-back following the departures of Chris Lowe and Erik Durm - with Terence Kongolo also looking likely to leave, with Aston Villa interested.

Boli Mbombo has impressed in his stint at Rapid Vienna, making 63 appearances for a team which finished as runners-up in The Austrian Cup last season.

In that time he has also experienced European football, which Huddersfield players currently lack, but they will face a difficult task in persuading him against a move to Premier League Burnley.

The Verdict

Mbombo is a great attacking full back and is exactly the type of adventurous, dynamic player that Huddersfield need after two seasons of defensive football. He is a player who can excite the fans and build a great partnership with his left-winger, whilst also performing his defensive responsibilities.

His signing would be a bit of a risk though, it could take him a while to adjust to the Championship and if Huddersfield want promotion they need consistency throughout the season. If he fails to deliver he could also be a very costly mistake at £3m - as that money could be spent in attacking areas.
