Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner has heaped praise on Collin Quaner after his recent good form, The Huddersfield Examiner is reporting.

Collin Quaner has netted twice in his last two games - opening the scoring in the 1-1 draw with Derby on Easter Monday after scoring a dramatic 90th minute winner against Preston on Easter Friday.

The four points that the physical centre forward has earned in the last two games with those goals has seen Huddersfield stay in the hunt for an automatic promotion spot.

German boss David Wagner is pleased to see his fellow countryman Collin Quaner adapting to life in England so well and has praised him as the "perfect team player" to fit Huddersfield's system.

Quaner alternates the number 9 role with Nahki Wells and the January arrival has given Wagner more options in the forward department.

Praising the 25-year-old's influence since his winter switch from FC Union Berlin, Wagner said:

"I think this late goal against Preston gave him an unbelievable lift.

"It was for sure one of his best performances against Derby, with a great goal as well - he was totally calm in this situation.

"And I think we can say we made a good decision when we brought him in in winter.

"He's scored now three goals, gave assists, is a perfect team player for our idea of football and gives us a further alternative in the number nine position.

"This is exactly what we always wanted - competition in this position: the possibility to give the players who play in this position at the right moment some time to take a breather and Collin is in good form at the minute."
