Former Bradford City winger Sean Scannell signed for Blackpool in the summer, ending his one-year spell with the Bantams after leaving the club by mutual consent.

The winger left the Utilita Energy Stadium in pursuit of League One football following Bradford’s relegation to the fourth tier and his wish was fulfilled when he swapped West Yorkshire for the Seaside by signing for Simon Grayson’s Blackpool.

Scannell did not have the best fortunes for Bradford last season, as he missed a huge chunk of their season with a stress fracture in his back, that saw him sidelined for three months. Scannell made 16 league appearances for the Bantams in their ill-fated season but was a starter in all-but-one of those, which was his return from the injury.

His figures in front of goal obviously took a hit as a result, as he could only register one assist and didn’t find the net himself.

This season has given Scannell a fresh start to hit the ground running and before his move to League One Blackpool, he scored for Bradford in August. The move to the Seasiders has provided Scannell with a chance to prove that he still has the quality to play in the third tier.

Since his arrival at Bloomfield Road, he has made six league appearances, scoring one goal against Lincoln City in a 2-1 win, when his first-time strike hit the top corner to give the home side the lead.

Blackpool are currently within touching distance of the play-offs and Scannell will be keen to have a bigger influence on his new side as the season goes on but for now, he is being used sporadically, which is justified considering his lack of regular football last season.  Having been rested in the Seasiders’ last game in the FA Cup against Morecambe, the winger will be keen to prove to Grayson that he has what it takes out wide to nail down a starting berth.
