Barnsley are preparing for a new era under boss Markus Schopp, with the Austrian tasked with building on the fine work that Valerien Ismael did at Oakwell.

To have a side that can compete for a play-off place it's clear that new signings are required, with replacing Alex Mowatt sure to be high on the new man's agenda.

Another influential figure that will need to be replaced is Daryl Dike, with reports suggesting that striker Obbi Oulare could make the move to Yorkshire.

Talks have already taken place between the former Belgium U21 international and Barnsley, although work needs to be done to finalise the deal.

If it does go through though, Schopp will be getting a player who will bring specific qualities to the team.

Firstly, at 6'4", the 25-year-old will have the physicality and strength to cope with the demands of English football, and it also gives an indication into the type of player that Oulare is.

Fans checking the stats of the striker may not have been impressed, with the ex-Club Brugge man by no means prolific, but he could be the ideal focal point for the Tykes.

It's still unclear which formation Schopp will go with moving forward but he will likely want a physical target man who can allow the other forwards to flourish. So, you would imagine that Carlton Morris and Oulare would be the two for that role, providing the latter signs.

As well as that, if Oulare doesn't start, his size and physique means he would be the ideal impact sub if the team need something different on the day.

With Barnsley needing another striker, Oulare would be a welcome addition and whilst he probably won't be the clinical goalscorer to replace Dike, he does have qualities that can make him useful for Schopp's new-look XI.
