Sheffield United clinched promotion to the Championship last season with an emphatic 100 points, whilst Bolton Wanderers clinched automatic promotion more narrowly, only finishing four points above third placed Fleetwood.

Millwall dramatically beat Bradford at Wembley courtesy of a late Steve Morison winner.

The question is, how will this trio fare in the Sky Bet Championship?

Sheffield United:

It was a bit of a fairytale at Bramall Lane last season as Chris Wilder, who grew up in Sheffield, guided them back to the Championship after a six year absence.

The main goal for this season for the Blades, will probably be to maintain their Championship status. A key aspect of whether the Blades do have a successful season is the form of fans favourite Billy Sharp.

Sharp's 30 goals in all competitions last season, was a factor in United gaining promotion. They now position themselves with 7/2 odds of being promoted once again according to Don Aguero Sports at Betting Dime.

If Sharp fails to hit the heights of last season, Wilder will be hoping that Ched Evans, who the Blades re-signed from Chesterfield, can emulate his goalscoring record when he was previously at Bramall Lane (42 goals in 103 league appearances).

Defensively, United were rock solid last season, only conceding 47 league goals. The key to keeping clean sheets in the Championship, may be down to how new arrival from Fulham Richard Stearman forms a partnership with ever present defener Jack O'Connell and experienced centre back Jake Wright.

Elsewhere, Wilder has strengthened his midfield with the signing of highly rated John Lundstram from Oxford, and is rumoured to still be interested in Southend midfielder Ryan Leonard.

Overall, much will depend on how the key new signings United have made settle in at Bramall Lane, but it is hard to see The Blades getting relegated under the management of Chris Wilder. Prediction: 12th.

Bolton Wanderers:

Phil Parkinson's first season in charge at Bolton Wanderers was a great success, guiding The Trotters back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Like Sheffield United, the main priority this season for the Lancashire club will be to secure survival. However, despite gaining automatic promotion last season, Bolton lacked a prolific goalscorer.

There were impressive goalscoring contributions from Gary Madine (10 goals), midfielder Josh Vela (10 goals) and even defender David Wheater (9 goals), but you feel Wanderers will need more of a prolific goalscorer this season. Therefore, it is not a surprise that Parkinson has tried to address this problem in the transfer market. Strikers Adam Le Fondre, who impressed on loan at The Macron Stadium last season, and Adam Armstrong, who signs on loan from Newcastle, have signed for Parkinson's side. To the contary, Wanderers were outstanding defensively last term, conceding just 36 goals.

If defensive duo Mark Beevers and David Wheater are as effective as last season, it could go a long way to securing Bolton's survival. It seems that Bolton may struggle, but I'd back them to just stay up this season. Prediction: 20th.

Millwall:

After Play-Off heartbreak in the 2015/16 season, Neil Harris did an excellent job to get Millwall promoted through the Play-Off route last season. In their previous spell in the Championship, Millwall finished in the top half just once out of five seasons, and it may be the case that the South London club struggle again this term.

However, Neil Harris has done some very good business in this transfer window. In particular, the two signings of midfielder George Saville and winger Jed Wallace look to be very good pieces of business. Both of these players have already had loan spells at The New Den, so will should settle in relatively quickly.

Also arriving at The New Den, is striker Tom Elliot from AFC Wimbledon. The 26 year old scored 15 league goals in two years for Neil Ardley's team, and may provide the perfect strike partner for Lee Gregory.

What Millwall do have in their favour is an outstanding goalkeeper in Jordan Archer, who kept over 10 clean sheets last season. However, Archer's excellence in goal may not be enough to keep Millwall in the league without a few more additions. Prediction: 22nd.
