Much of Luton Town's success in front of goal this season has been down the exploits of their striking duo James Collins and Harry Cornick, with both frontmen notching five goals apiece so far.

However, despite their positive form in front of goal, the duo haven't been able to prevent the Hatters from slipping down the Championship table in recent weeks, with the Bedfordshire based outfit now sitting in 21st place.

Goals need to be shared around more amongst the squad and the defence really needs to tighten their belts, with the Hatters having shipped 30 goals already this term, putting them amongst the worst defences in the division.

From an offensive perspective, Town have found the net on 22 occasions, suggesting they don't have a problem dispatching chances, however, it is fair to say that they could do with an extra man shouldering the responsibility of getting the goals to move them up the league table.

One man who could well answer their prayers is 30-year-old striker Danny Hylton, with the former Oxford United striker having been sidelined through injury, his return to fitness could prove to be a boost to the club's survival hopes.

The experienced frontman's goal scoring record speaks for itself, with the ex-AFC Wimbledon striker having scored 133 goals in over 400 games in English football, including 58 for the Hatters.

Despite being a largely physical presence due to his height, Hylton is also capable at linking the play well and being a creative outlet through the centre of his pitch, as his record of 53 assists shows.

His ability with the ball at his feet means that the 30-year-old should, in theory, fit in well with Luton's possession-based game, with Grames Jones largely deploying his team in a 4-1-2-1-2 formation this season, that allows the Hatters to create overloads through the centre of the pitch.

The London born forward would offer a good back up option for Messrs Collins and Cornick, who have both consistently started for the club this season, meaning they could be at risk of burnout if Jones doesn't supplement his frontline.

Things don't get any easier for the Hatters in the coming weeks, with games to come against the likes of Leeds United and Charlton Athletic, the winter months could prove to be a deciding factor as to whether Luton will stay up or go down this campaign.

One thing's for sure though, Jones will surely be pleased to have Hylton back for selection, as the 30-year-old's long-awaited return to full fitness will provide another option for the Town boss to utilise.
