Nottingham Forest striker Virgil Gomis has enjoyed a somewhat mixed start to his time on loan with League Two Macclesfield Town, with the 20-year-old managing to earn some vital first team minutes without excelling so far.

Gomis, enjoyed two fairly productive loan spells with League Two Notts County and National League side Braintree Town last season, making a combined 15 first team appearances during those spells – and Nottingham Forest were keen for the striker to make another loan move to League Two this summer.

The 20-year-old has so far made nine appearances in the League for Macclesfield, most of which have come from the bench, and although he has yet to score a league goal for the club, he has started in two of their last three league games, suggesting he is showing enough in training to earn starts up front.

Gomis, now needs to start adding some goals to his game and proving he can make a difference at League Two level, with the striker already demonstrating his ability in front of goal managing to register a goal in each of his appearances in the Carabao Cup and the EFL Trophy so far this term.

Macclesfield have made a fairly solid start to the campaign, currently sitting in 12th place, but they have somewhat struggled in front of goal, managing to register just 15 league goals so far, which is the third fewest out of  any of the sides currently in the division’s top half.

Gomis, will be needing to show that he can be the player to improve Macclesfield’s form in front of goal over the coming weeks – and Nottingham Forest will be keeping a watchful eye over his performances which just need a goal to get him up and running and playing at his best.
