How is Simon Makienok getting on ever since leaving Preston North End?

Emerging through the ranks at Næstved Boldklub Herfølge Boldklub in his native Denmark, Simon Makienok eventually made his senior debut for the latter, before joining Superliga side HB Køge. 

In four years with the top-flight club, the 6ft 7 forward netted 22 times in 58 games, alerting Brøndby.

The towering forward spent two and a half years with the Danish giants, finishing his time in his homeland with 35 goals from 74 appearances. 

Embarking on his first move outside of Denmark, Makienok joined Italian club Palermo in the summer of 2014, however, it was a spell that hindered his progress.

What year were the club founded?

In three years with the club, he made just four appearances, spending time in England with Charlton Athletic, and then Preston North End. 

Scoring five times in 36 games for The Addicks, he was part of a Charlton side who were relegated from the Championship. 

Joining the Lancashire club in the summer of 2016, the striker netted a hat-trick against Premier League club Bournemouth in the EFL Cup. 

Two weeks later, Makienok netted his first league goal of the season, with his headed equaliser in stoppage-time, allowing The LilyWhites’ unbeaten run to go on. 

Following his loan spell at Preston coming to an end, Makienok joined Dutch club Utrecht. It was an injury-hit spell for the towering forward, who was unable to get back to consistently playing. 

In January 2020, Makienok arrived at a new in a new country, with Dynamo Dresden becoming the destination. After six months with second-tier German outfit, Makienok joined their divisional rivals in FC St. Pauli. 

Makienok has started the new season by scoring twice in his opening seven games, with his side at the second-tier summit.
