As always seems to be the case, there were many transfers that caught the eye in the summer, with Scott Carson joining Manchester City certainly one of those.

The former England international completed a late loan move to the Premier League champions after spending four years with Derby County in the Championship.

On the whole, the stopper was very good for the Rams, however a poor run of form, combined with injury, meant he lost his place to Kelle Roos for the run-in under Frank Lampard and watched on as the Rams lost the play-off final to Aston Villa.

The prospect of another season on the bench in the Championship clearly didn't appeal to Carson, who agreed to join Pep Guardiola's side knowing he wouldn't realistically play for City either.

And, unsurprisingly, he is still yet to get any minutes for Manchester City, with Ederson the first-choice and Claudio Bravo his backup.

When the Brazilian hasn't been involved, that has seen Carson start on the bench, which included the game against his former club Liverpool last time out.

However, Ederson's injury isn't believed to be serious, meaning that the 34-year-old is unlikely to be involved again in a matchday squad until the League Cup quarter-final against Oxford comes around next month.

Of course, this lack of minutes won't have come as a surprise to Carson and he has to be enjoying the experience of working under one of the best managers in the world.

As for Derby, with Roos struggling this season and many feeling they need a new keeper in January, it's a decision they may regret right now.
