Ryan Nyambe ended his seven-year stint, at senior level with Blackburn Rovers in the summer, with the 24-year-old failing to agree a new deal with the Lancashire club.

With his potential availability alerting several clubs, it was eventually a move to Wigan Athletic that surfaced for the flying wing-back.

Joining the newly-promoted second-tier club just ahead of the new campaign, Nyambe has gone on to feature seven times in the league thus far.

Missing out on the first game of the campaign, the 24-year-old came on as a substitute for the next two.

He has since started three league matches for the Latics, with Leam Richardson's side adapting well to life back in the second tier.

Nyambe has featured as a wing-back and as a full-back early into the new campaign and is yet to be on the losing side when he has been trusted from the very start.

Handed more responsibilities within the starting XI recently because of the absence of Tendayi Darikwa, it was Nyambe's turn to be unavailable for Saturday's clash against Reading.

Richardson revealed after the game that the full-back was feeling a couple of knocks, and with Darikwa back fit, the Wigan boss opted to rest Nyambe.

The international break has perhaps come at a good time for the exciting full-back who has made a positive start to life at the DW Stadium.
