Fulham had a very busy summer as Marco Silva looked to reshape the squad ahead of his first season in charge of the club.
Whilst there was a lot of focus on retaining key men and incomings, there were plenty of departures from Craven Cottage, with Maxime Le Marchand one of those to secure a permanent move away.
The left-sided defender joined in 2018 when they were a Premier League club, and his signing was seen as a coup after Le Marchand had shone in Ligue 1 with Nice.
However, things didn’t go to plan for the player, or his teammates, in a forgettable year that saw the team relegated.
Despite that, Le Marchand would remain with Fulham in the second tier and he featured in some important games as they won promotion back to the top-flight straight away.
But, he would go on to make just two more league appearances for the Londoners after that, with the 31-year-old having a loan spell with Antwerp before moving on for good this summer to RC Strasbourg.
And, it’s a move that has worked out very well for Le Marchand.
Crucially, after a frustrating few years, he is getting regular football, having featured in six consecutive games since the transfer was finalised.
On the whole, he has done well too, with the team picking up ten points in that period, lifting them into mid-table in Ligue 1.
The vast majority of Fulham fans would agree that Le Marchand’s exit was the right move, but they will be glad to see the popular former player has settled in well to his new club.
