Marc Muniesa enjoyed a turbulent spell at Stoke City during his time at the bet365 Stadium.

The 27-year-old arrived at the Staffordshire club with big things expected of the defender, after arriving from European giants Barcelona.

Muniesa made three senior appearances for the five-time Champions League winners, but signed for the Potters, who were looking to kick on after finishing 13th in the 2012/12 Premier League table.

The Spaniard made just 17 appearances in his debut season with the Potters, falling behind Erik Pieters in the pecking order under Mark Hughes.

The following season, Stoke finished 9th for the second year running, but Muniesa played just 22 times with injury cutting his season short.

But after making 17 appearances in the 15/16 campaign, Muniesa's gametime became even more limited, and he left the club after playing 14 times in the 2016/17 season.

The left-sided defender signed for Spanish side Girona, initially on loan, before making his move permanent at the end of the 2017/18 campaign.

Girona were relegated from La Liga in the 2018/19 season, though, and Muniesa bid farewell to the club upon the expiry of his contract, making a total of 38 appearances for the Spanish outfit.

He now plys his trade over in Qatar for Al-Arabi, playing just twice thus far and registering one assist. At the age of 27, he will undoubtedly be looking to reignite his once promising career over in Qatar, and attract interest from Europe in the coming year or so.

You feel that if injuries had stayed away during his time at Stoke, then he could have embarked on a much more enjoyable spell.
