Swindon Town are one club currently benefiting from the Leeds United loan policy, with Jordan Stevens part of the squad at The County Ground for 2020/21.

Leeds’ promotion to the Premier League has opened up doors in the EFL to the likes of Stevens, with the winger looking to build on the six substitute appearances Marcelo Bielsa has handed him at Elland Road.

And, that’s exactly what he’s doing under Richie Wellens, who battled hard to take the youngster on loan over the domestic transfer window.

Quiz: Do Huddersfield Town and Leeds United have these 10 things in common?

On the back of signing last month, Stevens was thrust straight into the starting line-up at Swindon, repaying Wellens’ faith just seven minutes into his debut.

The 20-year-old buried a chance that fell his way to set Swindon up for a 4-2 victory against Burton Albion, as the Leeds loanee worked his way through 90 minutes.

On the whole, Stevens has been a starter so far for Swindon. He’s featured in the starting line-up on four occasions in League One, with his only appearance from the bench coming at half-time in the defeat to Sunderland. Additionally, Wellens held him back until late in the Football League Trophy defeat to Exeter.

There has been a further goal contribution on the back of his debut, which actually came on Stevens’ second start in a Swindon shirt.

Against Peterborough United, the winger teed up Jack Payne to open the scoring for Swindon against the automatic promotion hopefuls on just six minutes. Ultimately, on that day, it was as good as it got, with Posh running out 3-1 winners in the end.

Swindon’s most recent fixture – Oxford United – was suspended, leaving Stevens’ temporary side 21st in the table and currently occupying a place in the League One relegation zone.
