Jon Toral is certainly a player who had a lot of promise during the earlier years of his career and many people will be keen to work out where things went wrong for the Spaniard.

After coming through as a youngster at Arsenal, the midfielder went on to take in spells with the likes of Brentford and then Birmingham City, with the latter of which being a club where he would go on to have two stints with.

Then followed briefer spells with the likes of Grandad in Spain and Rangers in Scotland before making his return to the English game with Hull City.

It was at the MKM Stadium that he gradually got used to playing regularly again and eventually he would make his return to Birmingham after the Tigers got relegated to Sky Bet League One.

Toral would only go on to play 18 games across all competitions in his second spell with the Blues are largely cut a frustrated figure at St Andrew's before eventually being released over the summer as Lee Bowyer looked to overhaul the squad.

Now plying his trade for OFI Crete in the Greek first division, Toral will be looking to have a successful spell on the continent now that he is into his prime years as a professional.

The talented midfielder's career hasn't hit the heights that many expected but there is still plenty of time for him to achieve things after bidding farewell to the Football League for possibly the final time.
