John Akinde had a respectable record of 20 league goals in 68 league games during his time at Lincoln City, a club he was with between 2018 and 2020.

Akinde has certainly been around the block as a striker over the course of his career, with plenty of clubs on his CV.

He's played most notably for the likes of Bristol City, Crawley Town and, perhaps most famously of all, Barnet during his time as a player, with him joining the Imps after leaving the men from north London in 2018.

He did, of course, leave the club in 2020 and linked up with Steve Evans at Gillingham in Sky Bet League One, where he has remained since.

His time at the Gills has seen him score eight league goals in just over 50 league games, so not as good as a strike rate as when he was at the Imps in fairness, with last year his most prolific as he scored 7 goals in 44 league matches.

This season, meanwhile, the minutes have been here and there with him notching three starts in the league and making a further two appearances off of the bench, with an assist getting registered against Cambridge at the end of September.

He appears, then, to still be a part of the squad this season despite him being available for a transfer in the summer and we'll have to wait and see if someone comes in for him in January or if he is going to see this season out now, with Evans saying he's ready to call on him a lot this year now.
