West Brom have had a brilliant start to the season and deservedly lead the way in the Championship.

Whilst many expected Slaven Bilic's side to be in the mix for promotion, the football they have played has been somewhat surprising because the Croatian inherited a side that had lost several key players.

One of those was forward Jay Rodriguez, who rejoined Premier League Burnley in the summer in a deal that will be worth £10m.

With Dwight Gayle, another who left this summer, grabbing the headlines for his performances last season, some forget that Rodriguez actually weighed in with 22 goals himself as Albion reached the play-offs.

However, despite a productive pre-season with the Clarets, the 29-year-old hasn't established himself as a key figure under Sean Dyche.

In fairness to the ex-Southampton man, that's probably to be expected. With Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood the preferred partnership up top, Rodriguez has had to be patient and many of the 12 games he has featured in have come as a substitute.

Yet, he has still scored twice, with his most recent effort being a remarkable striker as the side lost at home to Chelsea.

West Brom Quiz: Can you get 18 out of 18?

Most Baggies fans appreciate that Rodriguez stayed with the club following relegation when he could have pushed for a move and he didn't sulk last season, so they didn't begrudge him this transfer.

And, you would have to say that one the whole it is one that has benefited both parties. Albion are flying high and the funds from his sale have been spent wisely, whilst Rodriguez is back playing in the top-flight.
