Hakeeb Adelakun never really got the chance to shine at Bristol City, having made only seven appearances for the Robins during his three years there.

Having signed for the club after making a real statement about his ability with Scunthorpe in League One and Two, it looked like Bristol City would be the team to give him a chance a division higher.

That opportunity never really arrived, as he only ever made five starts for the side and spent most of his time with the club shipped out on loan to Rotherham and Hull.

Having finally cut ties with the team on a permanent basis over summer then, how is he getting on away from Nigel Pearson’s team?

To put it simply, a lot better. He joined Lincoln in the summer transfer window and has already picked up where he left off having been given much more action. In fact, he already has more starts this year than during the entirety of his stay with Bristol City.

Although he isn’t a regular in the Imps’ side this season, he’s made 13 appearances thus far and has already managed two goal contributions.

He’s looked bright in the third tier and is once again proving that he is a talent worth having at that level.

Lincoln may currently not be up near the top six where they want to be at the moment but Adelakun is enjoying his football a lot more and the team are reaping the rewards of his extra playing time. He will likely play a lot more this year for them and – if he can emulate his assist tally from his time at Scunthorpe – then he could prove to be a key player for Lincoln as the season goes on. If he does, then he will certainly make the Robins regret letting him go over summer.
