When Coventry City opted to bolster their squad in 2019 by signing Gervane Kastaneer, they would have been hoping that the Dutchman would go on to make a positive impact for the club.

However, the 25-year-old ultimately failed to deliver the goods on a consistent basis during his time with the Sky Blues.

Despite scoring on his league debut for Coventry, Kastaneer was unable to replicate this display in his second third-tier appearance as he was sent-off in the club's 3-3 draw with Portsmouth.

Following this dismissal, the winger struggled to establish himself as a key member of the Sky Blues' squad as he only made 16 appearances in all competitions during the 2019/20 campaign.

Kastaneer only featured twice for Coventry in the Championship last season as he missed a considerable chunk of action due to an ankle injury.

Sky Blues manager Mark Robins opted to loan the winger out to Scottish side Hearts earlier this year.

After making seven appearances for the Jambos, Kastaneer sealed a permanent exit from Coventry as he joined PEC Zwolle.

Since making this particular switch, the winger has featured regularly for his new side in the Eredivisie.

However, his struggles with consistency have continued as he has yet to score a goal or register an assist in this particular division.

In the 14 league games that he has played for PEC Zwolle, Kastaneer has averaged a relatively WhoScored match rating of 6.36 in the Eredivisie.

With his side set to face Groningen on Friday, the winger will be determined to help the club seal victory in this particular showdown.

A win for PEC Zwolle at the Euroborg will see them move to within four points of safety.

Coventry meanwhile will be aiming to extend their current unbeaten run in the Championship to five games by picking up a positive result in their showdown with West Bromwich Albion this weekend.
