Freddie Woodman made an impressive impact with Swansea City in his loan spell with the club last season, as they finished sixth in the Championship table.

The shot-stopper signed for the Swans in the summer of 2019, and went on to make 43 appearances for Steve Cooper's side, as they narrowly missed out on promotion into the Premier League.

Swansea were beaten by Brentford on aggregate in their play-off semi-final, which saw them condemned to yet another season in the second-tier.

Woodman kept 12 clean sheets in the 2019/20 season for Swansea, and clearly made a good impression on Steve Cooper, as the club wasted no time in signing him up for another year in the Championship.

The Newcastle youngster has picked up where he left off with the Swans last season, and has played a key role in their strong start to this year's league campaign.

Woodman has made eight appearances in total for Swansea this season, and will be eager to keep his strong run of form going for the majority of the 2020/21 season.

Swansea are currently sat third in the Championship standings after their opening eight matches of this year's campaign, and they're just a point adrift of second-placed AFC Bournemouth.

They've lost just once in the second-tier this season, and will be hoping to make it four matches unbeaten when they return to action this weekend, as they take on Blackburn Rovers, in what is likely to be a tricky test for Steve Cooper's side.

Woodman is likely to be in for a busy afternoon on Saturday as well, with Blackburn already showing that they can be a real threat going forward when at their best.

He already has four clean sheets to his name this term, and will be hoping he can put in a strong performance against Tony Mowbray's side.

If the shot-stopper can continue to impress though, then he could well find himself challenging for a spot in the Newcastle United first-team in future seasons.
