It's safe to say that Florian Jozefzoon didn't hit the heights that were originally set for him with Derby County.

The winger caught the eye with a number of impressive performances for Brentford, as he scored eight goals and ten assists in his time with the Bees.

Those strong performances earned Jozefzoon a move to Derby County, but for one reason one reason or another, the move hasn't worked out for the Dutchman.

He has made 49 appearances in total for the Rams, and it seems as though his days with Phillip Cocu's side are numbered in the future.

But the winger was handed a lifeline to get his career back on track in the Championship, as he signed for Rotherham United on a season-long loan deal.

The Millers will be able to offer him much-needed minutes as well, as Paul Warne's side look to adjust to life back in the Championship, after winning promotion from League One last season, after the majority of clubs in the third-tier agreed to finalise league positions on a PPG (points per game) basis.

Jozefzoon made his Rotherham debut as a late substitute against Norwich City, in a match that ended in frustration for the Millers, as they fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat to the Canaries.

He seemingly made a good enough impression though in that outing, as the 29-year-old was handed his first start for Rotherham against Reading at the weekend.

Despite the Millers' dominance in possession, they were unable to make the breakthrough, and were made to pay for those missed chances, as Reading ran out 3-0 winners with a much-improved display in the second-half.

Jozefzoon has shown glimpses of his quality in the early stages of his time with Rotherham, and he'll be pushing for a start once again in their next match, when they return to action against Sheffield Wednesday on Wednesday evening.

It remains to be seen as to whether the midfielder has much of a future with Derby County, but he'll be eager to make a good impression whilst out on loan with Rotherham, as they target Championship survival this term.
