Dutch footballer Royston Drenthe had quite some career.

Starting out at Feyenoord, the left-sided player soon found himself at Real Madrid, making 65 appearances for the club before they decided he just wasn't quite at that level.

Loans with Hercules and Everton in the Premier League soon followed, and in 2013, Drenthe signed for Reading FC.

At the time, the Royals had just been relegated from the Premier League.

In his one and only season at the club, Drenthe appeared 24 times for Reading, scoring two goals for the club that campaign.

That season, Reading finished 7th in the division, just missing out on the play-off places.

At the end of that season, though, Drenthe was loaned to fellow Championship side Sheffield Wednesday.

Unfortunately for Drenthe, things were no better at Hillsborough, managing just 15 appearances and one goal before his loan at the club was ended in January, after which Reading let him leave on a free transfer.

With the above said, though, here at FLW, we thought we'd take a look at how Drenthe was getting on these days.

How is he getting on these days?

Drenthe is 35 years old these days, and despite a somewhat nomadic career, still plays to this day.

In the summer, he left Racing Murcia on a free transfer to join up with another Spanish side Racing Merida.

As per Transfermarkt, he is yet to make an appearance for the club this campaign yet.

Drenthe did, however, appear nine times in the Segunda Federacion Group V last season whilst playing for Real Murcia CF.

Indeed, although it appears the Dutchman's career is potentially drawing to its final stages, he does still continue to train hard, as evidenced by recent posts on social media.

Whether or not we see him turning out for Racing Merida any time soon, though, remains to be seen.
