Steven Gerrard has turned Glasgow Rangers into genuine title contenders in Scotland.

He's forged a squad which is finally capable of going toe-to-toe with Celtic, but with that means that standard have risen around Ibrox.

The Glasgow side are continually strengthening their squad and moved to sign Jake Hastie on a free transfer from Motherwell over the summer.

A product of the Motherwell academy, the winger spent the first part of last season on loan at Alloa Athletic in the Scottish second tier, scoring three goals and contributing four assists, but was recalled in January and had a dazzling second half of the season at Fir Park.

Hastie scored seven goals in 13 appearances for the SPFL club, won the SPFL Player of the Month Award for March, earned himself a call-up to the Scotland U21s, and was nominated for the PFA Scotland Young Player of the Year award for 2018/19.

Hastie is tipped as a future Rangers star, and was sent out to Rotherham United on a season-long loan deal to show what he could do in League One.

Early suggestions said that the 21-year-old was going to be a cut above in England's third tier after scoring three goals in three games, including strikes against both Bolton Wanderers and Sunderland.

Can you name all of Rotherham's top goalscorers from the last 15 years? Have a go!

Hastie hasn't scored since mid-September and after a poor performance in the 2-1 defeat to Oxford United, he found himself on the bench for the clash with title favourites Ipswich Town.

Since then, the 21-year-old has played just 45 minutes for Rotherham after seemingly falling behind Chiedozie Ogbene in the pecking order.

Rotherham are sitting in sixth in the League One table at present, and I'm sure that Jake Hastie and Steven Gerrard will be hoping that the young Rangers winger can find his form again to play a key role for the Millers during the second half of the season.
