The summer of 2017 was a strange time for Leeds United, with Andrea Radrizzani’s first months with the club leading to plenty of transfer activity to bolster Thomas Christiansen’s squad.

Leeds had just replaced Garry Monk with Christiansen after finishing seventh in the Championship, but set about overhauling the squad with a host of European arrivals.

Amongst those to arrive was Pawel Cibicki, with the forward heading to Elland Road on August 31, signing a four-year deal and leaving Malmo.

However, things didn’t go well for the Swedish forward, who made just seven Championship appearances and only 10 across all competitions. That brought a mere two assists, with Cibicki not fitting into the plans of Paul Heckingbottom or Marcelo Bielsa, with his last outing on January 30, 2018.

Since leaving Leeds, he’s been reasonably well travelled, with a good few loan spells now under the 25-year-old’s belt as he looks to settle.

Cibicki has been with Molde in Norway, where he scored one goal and registered three assists, as well as playing five games in the Europa League.

January 2019 saw Cibicki then link up with Elfsborg back in Sweden, where he made 17 appearances.

In that time, Cibicki managed to score six goals and register one assist, including a brace as Elfsborg beat IK Sirius 4-2 on April 27.

After returning to Leeds in the summer, Cibicki was quickly on the move for a third time, linking up with Den Haag in the Eredivisie.

The goals have dried up too, with Cibicki failing to find the back of the net in three appearances, finishing on the losing side in two of those outings.

That type of form is what we saw at Leeds, with Cibicki really struggling to adapt to the Championship and Christiansen failing to put too much trust in the forward.

However, after couple of good cameo spells in Norway and Sweden, Cibicki will be hoping this move to the Eredivisie doesn’t set him back as he looks to find a permanent home as his Leeds prospects become a distant memory.
