Nottingham Forest were very active in the summer transfer window with new boss Sabri Lamouchi looking to make his own mark on the team.

He inherited a Reds squad that was very bloated, so departures were as much of a necessity as bringing in new faces.

And, one man to secure a temporary exit away from the City Ground was midfielder Liam Bridcutt, who joined League One strugglers Bolton Wanderers on loan.

The 30-year-old had endured a very difficult time at Forest since making the move from Leeds, with the previous campaign particularly frustrating as he made just one league appearance.

With a host of players ahead of him in the pecking order, he would have realised pretty quickly that a move away was his only chance of football this season.

So, that's what he did and things went extremely well for Bridcutt initially, as he starred for the Trotters as they showed a lot of fight to get some points on the board despite their tough situation.

He was impressing for the side with both his ability on the pitch and his leadership but he suffered a fractured collarbone in a game against Blackpool earlier this month and still hasn't returned.

Such an injury is obviously going to keep him out for a prolonged period and it will be a huge frustration to Bridcutt who had started to well.

But, these things happen in football and he will be desperate to prove himself again on his return as he plans a permanent Forest exit in the coming windows.
