Birmingham City have had their fair share of players over the years that have struggled for a consistent run of game time in the starting XI.

One of those was Kerim Mrabti, who made 29 appearances in his time with Birmingham City, after signing for the club in 2019 from Swedish side Djurgården.

He went on to score three goals and be on hand to provide two assists for the club, although those statistics should be taken with a pinch of salt, as he made just 12 league starts last year.

It wasn't the best of seasons for Birmingham last season, with the Blues finishing 20th in the Championship table whilst under the management of Pep Clotet.

The arrival of Scott Hogan in 2020 saw him struggle for game time even more in the Birmingham team, and he went on to leave the club at the end of the 2019/20 season, as he signed for Belgian First Division A club KV Mechelen.

Mrabti has since gone on to make 29 appearances in total for KV Mechelen, as they're currently sat tenth in the Belgian top-flight after 31 matches this term.

He has put in a number of strong performances for them this season as well, with the former Swedish international scoring six goals, and being on hand to provide two assists in his time with the club so far, which certainly makes for good reading.

The 26-year-old is contracted with the club until 2023, and they also hold an option to extend that contract by a further year if he can make a good impression with them.

He'll be eager to continue to impress in the Belgian top-flight as they head into their final three league matches this season, as they're just a point adrift of the Europa League qualifying positions.

Mrabti and his KV Mechelen team-mates are set to return to action this weekend, when they take on Sint-Truidense VV on Saturday.
