Ex-Leeds United striker Kemar Roofe made a surprising exit from Elland Road in the summer, moving to Belgian giants Anderlecht.

Kemar Roofe was a fan favourite for Leeds United last season, with many then surprised to see him depart Leeds, especially after being the club’s top scorer last campaign. Roofe ended the season for Leeds with 14 goals and two assists, in a campaign where the Whites narrowly missed out on promotion - something they'll be looking to achieve this time around.

Roofe came into this season in the last year of his contract and Leeds were seemingly open to listening to offers. When Anderlecht were reportedly offering £7million for his services, it made sense for Leeds to offload him, with a £10million striker in Patrick Bamford taking his spot.

Roofe arrived at Vincent Kompany’s Anderlecht with an ankle injury that he suffered in the summer, meaning he missed the start of the season, where his new side struggled massively.

The poor start led to Kompany giving up his player-manager role to focus solely on playing, which coincided with Roofe returning from injury a couple of weeks later in the back-end of September.

Upon his return from injury, he has hit the ground running for the Purple and White, making six appearances and scoring four goals with one assist so far. His form has helped boost the spirits around the club, and upon his debut for the side, they have since not lost a game.

Out of the four goals he has scored, Roofe took two from the penalty spot and dispatched both confidently. This would surely beg the question of why he only had chance to take two penalties in his time at Leeds (which he scored one and missed one), and especially so with how poor Leeds were from the spot last season with different takers.

The past two seasons have been a coming-of-age for Roofe who has finally managed to hold down a spot in his seemingly natural striker position. His form for Anderlecht makes interesting reading for Leeds fans, who will probably wonder why he was sold when current forward Bamford is in a lengthy goal drought.
