Everton have endured a mixed season in the Premier League so far this term, which leaves them currently sitting in 12th place in the table with nine matches remaining.

The Toffees got off to a poor start to the campaign which eventually saw the club part company with Marco Silva, and in Carlo Ancelotti Everton seem to have found the right type of manager to move the club forwards and push them towards the European places.

Everton are currently six points adrift of sixth placed Wolves, so they will still feel they potentially have an outside chance of finishing in a Europa League place, although Ancelotti would probably settle for a top half finish.

Whether Everton end the season in one of the Europa League places or not, Ancelotti will likely be keen to make alterations to his squad in the transfer window ahead of next season.

Here then, we take a look at the XI Everton could field next season if the transfer rumours prove to be accurate…

Jordan Pickford has endured a frustrating campaign at times this season, with England’s current number one goalkeeper having made a couple of high-profile mistakes for Everton, which has seen him come under scrutiny by some of the club’s supporters.

The keeper, though, still has plenty of ability and much to offer for the Toffees under Ancelotti’s guidance, and given the current financial uncertainty it could be a big risk for Everton to look to replace him in the next transfer window.

Seamus Coleman could well start next season as Everton’s first choice right-back once again, with the defender having at times been kept out of the side this campaign by Dijbril Sidibe.

Ancelotti could then look into the transfer market to find another right-back, or could even consider moving Mason Holgate out into that position, but Coleman remains a very dependable player for Everton to rely on heading into next term.

Ancelotti is likely to go into the next transfer window looking to add to his options in the centre of defense, and one player who Everton have been linked with is Lille’s promising centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes, who has impressed in Ligue 1 this term.

Magalhaes is at the right sort of age to be developed by Ancelotti over the next few years and has managed to get a lot of valuable first team experience under his belt already, which could make him the ideal player for the Toffees to bring in ahead of next season.

Everton would have the choice of Michael Keane and Yerry Mina to start alongside at the heart of their defence next campaign, but Ancelotti has shown faith in Holgate since he took over from Silva and he could continue to place the trust in the defender to start.

Holgate has shown some promising glimpses of his potential to be developed into a very consistent performer over the next few years, and next season could be his big opportunity to really prove his worth for the Toffees.

Lucas Digne has been one of Everton’s best performers this season so far, with the left-back having established himself as one of the best performers in the Premier League in that position, and Ancelotti will be looking to continue to get the best out of him over the next few campaigns.

The defender has at times dipped bellow his best form, but if he can show more consistency under Ancelotti next campaign he could prove to be key in helping the Toffees compete for a European place next season.

Everton have bit with another injury set back to midfielder Jean-Phillipe Gbamin, which looks set to keep him on the sidelines for another prolonged period, and that means that Toffees could need to bring in another midfielder in the forthcoming transfer window.

One player who the Toffees are being linked with as a potential replacement for Gbamin is Angers’ Angelo Fulgini, with the midfielder entering the last year of his contract and therefore potentially available for a reduced fee.

Andre Gomes has been missed this season when he has been out injured for the Toffees, with the midfielder’s calmness and composure in possession a real key asset to the side. The Portugal international returned to fitness before the season was suspended and he could be key to helping them finish higher up the league.

Ancelotti could be the perfect manager to help get the best out of a player with Gomes’ undoubted quality and potential, and it could be exciting to see how well he performs under the Italian given a full preseason to get properly fit.

Richarlison has enjoyed an impressive campaign often playing up front with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but Ancelotti could tweak the formation to more of a 4-2-3-1 with some new additions, and that would mean the Brazilian moving out to the flanks but with the freedom to come inside.

The forward has shown some real quality since Ancelotti took over and it will be interesting to see just how much he can improve in a full season under the Italian’s coaching next term.

This move might prove to be a little too complex for Everton to complete, but the Toffees have been linked with a move for Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez who has already been signed twice by Ancelotti at both Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Were Everton to secure a move for the Colombian it would show just how serious they were about really pushing for European football, and he could very well add some extra flair and quality in the number position for the Toffees next term.

Another potentially exciting attacking addition that Everton could make in the next transfer window is Gremio forward Everton Soares, with the Brazilian having demonstrated his potential and quality which has earned him international recognition with Brazil.

Soares is being linked with a move to Napoli as well, but with Everton offering the prospect of Premier League football they could manage to secure his signature ahead of next season.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has emerged as one of Everton’s most influential performers over the course of the season and has established himself as a crucial part of their attack. The forward has already shown he has the ability to improve his game under Ancelotti and lead the line for the Toffees.

It will be interesting to see how well he performs in a full season under Ancelotti, and of he can continue to develop at his current rate he could emerge as one of the Premier League’s most dangerous strikers.
