It's been a thoroughly disappointing first half to the season for Huddersfield Town.

Whilst last season's play-off exploits seemed like a big ask following the departure of Carlos Corberan, nobody could have envisaged the Terriers struggling so badly.

Already on their second boss of the season, the club sit rock bottom of the Championship heading into the World Cup break.

Despite results being poor, one thing that will never waiver, though, is the loyal support given to the players at the John Smith's Stadium, and it could well play a big part this season as the club look to get themselves out of trouble.

With that said, we thought we'd take a look at how Huddersfield Town's home capacity stacks up when compared to that of their Championship rivals, as per Transfermarkt.

Championship capacity ranked

First and foremost, it's important to establish the capacity of the John Smith's Stadium in order to see where it ranks.

As per Transfermarkt, the John Smith's Stadium has a capacity of 24,500 spectators.

That currently ranks as the 14th highest in the Championship, slightly ahead of Reading's Select Car Leasing Stadium (24, 161) and ever so slightly behind Wigan Athletic's DW Stadium (25, 133).

Huddersfield's capacity is well above the lowest in the division, though, with Luton Town holding that honour.

Indeed, their stadium Kenilworth Road holds just 10,226 fans.

The biggest stadium in the division at present is Sunderland's Stadium of Light.

As per Transfermarkt, the Black Cats' home ground holds a whopping 48,707 spectators on a matchday.

This is just shy of 15,000 bigger than even the second largest capacity stadium in the Championship, Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium (33,746).
