Cardiff City currently sit 19th in the Championship, and with the campaign almost at the halfway point, it's difficult to predict how successful of a season it will be for the Bluebirds. 

The second tier is proving to be as competitive as it has been in several years, with multiple sides vying for promotion and playoff places. For example, there are just eight points separating Millwall in sixth to Wigan Athletic in 22nd demonstrating how closely contested the division currently is. 

The Bluebirds did go into the international break amidst after losing back-to-back games, however, this World Cup-enforced break has provided them with an opportunity to reflect and get some much-needed time under Mark Hudson. 

It will be an interesting period for the club as they look to avoid being pulled into a relegation battle after a significant squad overhaul this summer.

Whilst we wait and see what the rest of the campaign has in store for Hudson's side, here, we turn attention away from the league table and take a look at the Cardiff City Stadium's capacity compared with other teams in the Championship…

Cardiff City Stadium versus the rest of the Championship 

Cardiff City’s Cardiff City Stadium has the third-highest capacity in the division, with the stadium holding up to 33,280 spectators. 

This is narrowly lower than Middlesbrough's Riverside Stadium is only around 466 higher, and significantly lower than Sunderland's Stadium of Light in top spot which holds 48,707.

It's narrowly bigger than Sheffield United's Bramall Lane which seats 32,702, giving the Cardiff City Stadium a 498-seat advantage.

 

 

The smallest ground in the division currently is Luton Town's Kenilworth Road, ith 10,356, meaning that the Cardiff City Stadium is three times the size of the Hatters’ Bedfordshire home.

The Cardiff City Stadium vs League One, League Two and the Premier League

The Cardiff City Stadium would once again by the third-largest stadium by capacity in League One, with Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County both possessing grounds that are bigger. 

In League Two, the Cardiff City Stadium would be the biggest stadium by capacity, with Bradford City’s Valley Parade (25,136) being the only ground that comes close. 

Interestingly in the Premier League, Cardiff's home has a higher capacity than eight other grounds in the top tier. They possess bigger grounds than the likes of Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Nottingham Forest and Brighton.
