Burnley have been the dominant force in the Championship this season.

The Clarets are breezing through the second division at the first attempt and look set to earn promotion straight back to the Premier League.

It was a busy summer for the Lancashire club following their relegation last year, with Vincent Kompany arriving as new manager.

The Belgian got to work overhauling the squad that dropped into the second tier, bringing in players that better suited his preferred style of play.

Results were immediately impressive, with a big opening day win over the previous campaign’s play-off finalists Huddersfield Town setting the tone for what was to come.

Here we look at the team’s home form compared to their promotion rivals as the club continues its rise back to the Premier League…

Burnley

Burnley top the real table by seven points, and that gap has come from the difference in home form between themselves and Sheffield United.

Kompany’s side have earned 37 points from a possible 45, only dropping points from four draws.

They remain the only side in the second division to be unbeaten at home, winning 11 of their 15 games.

Sheffield United

United have the second best home record in the Championship this season, gaining 30 points from their 14 games at Bramall Lane so far.

Paul Heckingbottom’s team have just two home losses to their name this campaign, with those coming against QPR and Rotherham United.

Nine wins and a goal difference of +17 have made them a formidable foe at home.

Middlesbrough

Boro’s rise up the table under Michael Carrick has been underpinned by a solid home form at the Riverside.

The team are currently 3rd in the real table, 10 points adrift of United, but the gap is just one point when looking at results at home.

Boro have won eight of their 15 games this season, losing just two and earning a goal difference of +11.

Luton Town

The Hatters’ have the worst home form of the promotion contenders, sitting 10th in the standings.

Luton have earned just 22 points from their 15 games at Kenilworth Road this season, losing three and winning just five.

This is an area the team will need to improve to gain any ground on the likes of Boro in their bid to earn a top six finish.
