A number of managers in the Championship went into this weekend’s fixtures under pressure to get positive results, with mixed results. Here’s how they fared…

Ramsey has high hopes for Doughty
Ramsey's side won 3-0

Guy Luzon – Charlton Athletic

Luzon went into Charlton’s game against Brentford in bullish mood stating: “We are not a team that need to be a part of the relegation war”.

Unfortunately, after a 3-0 defeat, their seventh in nine games, he was unsurprisingly sacked after the match, leaving the Addicks in the relegation zone and looking for a new manager.

In contrast, Brentford’s interim manager Lee Carsley left the Valley celebrating his third win in a row and life is looking rosy for the Bee’s at the minute.

Kit Symons – Fulham

2-0 down against Reading and without a win in five games, things were looking a little bleak for Kit Symons but Fulham subsequently rallied, scoring four second half goals to beat their high flying opponents and move them into the top half of the Championship.

It was a good weekend for the Welshman and he will hope to be looking more upwards than down from this point on.

Kenny Jackett – Wolves

After a promising start to the season, Wolves have been stuttering of late so the visit of Middlesbrough was probably the last thing Kenny Jackett wanted – and so it proved to be with Boro walking away from Molineux with a 3-1 win to their name.

The natives are getting restless in this particular part of the West Midlands and the pressure turns up a notch on Jackett and his managerial team.

Neil Lennon – Bolton

Neil Lennon will hope that the signing of ex-Newcastle forward Shola Ameobi on a short term contract will boost the goal-scoring prowess of his beleaguered team, and for a while on Saturday it looked to be the case as Ameobi opened the scoring against Leeds United.

However, they couldn’t hold on as Leeds equalised and the game finished 1-1, leaving Bolton still bottom on goal difference and their manager still trying to work out how to steer them away from the relegation zone.

Chris Ramsey – QPR

When his substitution of midfielder Massimo Luongo was greeted with cries of “You don’t know what you’re doing” from the crowd, Ramsey was probably fearing the worst but ultimately the QPR manager silenced the doubters as his team ran out as 3-0 winners against an admittedly poor MK Dons side.

A much better weekend for Chris Ramsey and his team and his position is surely safe for the time being as he looks forward to a Friday night London Derby against in-form near neighbours Brentford.

Karl Robinson – MK Dons

Few would argue that Karl Robinson hasn’t done a fantastic job in getting MK Dons to where they are at present, but after another defeat on Saturday, they have now lost eight of their last ten games and his team sit precariously just above the relegation zone.

Robinson claimed on Saturday that: “QPR didn't really play any football, and at no stage of that game were we outplayed", but those who were watching the game would dispute that claim somewhat as the home side dominated for much of the match. Could Robinson’s job be under scrutiny after all he has done for the Dons?
