The 2021/22 Championship campaign ended in relegation for Barnsley, with the Yorkshire club eventually finishing bottom of the second-tier pile.
The Tykes managed to accumulate a mere 30 points across a difficult campaign, following their play-off place finish last time out.
Now finding themselves in a rather exciting position, with a managerial search and general recruitment currently underway at Oakwell, Barnsley will be hoping for a strong return to League One.
The Tykes tend to adapt to Championship relegation very well, proving to be a side who can bounce back to the second tier.

Yellow cards
Picking up 82 yellow cards throughout the campaign, Barnsley ranked 15th when regarding their Championship counterparts, 25 shy of Blackburn Rovers who accumulated the most, and just 12 more than Fulham who picked up the least.
Looking at disciplinary records and whether there is a correlation with final league position, it is clear to see that there was no pattern, with teams like Blackburn, Middlesbrough and Bournemouth occupying the first, third and fourth positions respectively in the 'most yellow cards picked up' standings, whilst the Cottagers picked up the least.
Red cards
Interestingly, Barnsley were one of three Championship sides not to be reduced to 10 men during last season.
Again, there does not appear to be much relation between red cards received and final league position, with Huddersfield Town and Millwall being the other two sides who received no red cards.
Further backing up this point, Derby County picked up the most with seven, with the Rams finishing in 23rd spot, just ahead of the Tykes.
Comparison to 2020/21 season
Strangely enough, there were a lot fewer cards shown during the 2020/21 season, with Barnsley themselves picking up a mere 67 yellow cards.
That is a figure that being this season would have been the lowest in the league, however, last time out it equated to sitting 13th.
The Tykes did pick up three red cards though, with Reading emerging as the only side not to be reduced to 10 men.
