Bournemouth secured promotion back to the Premier League in a successful season for Scott Parker.

The Cherries saw off a late challenge from Nottingham Forest for that 2nd place position, while also holding off a very consistent Huddersfield Town all campaign.

That will give the club a huge confidence boost going into what will be a vital summer transfer window.

While the team is already one of the most expensive that the Championship has ever seen, reinforcements will still be needed to be competitive in the top flight.

Parker himself has experience managing at this level, but found out first-hand how difficult it can be to maintain a club’s status at the elite level.

This will be a chance for him to learn from previous mistakes with Fulham, with the first opportunity to prove his knowledge coming with Bournemouth’s transfer activity.

Here are seven steps the club can take to have the perfect summer transfer window…

Solanke had an exceptional season leading the line for the Cherries under Parker.

His 29 goals were likely overshadowed by the achievements of Aleksander Mitrovic at Fulham, but were still very impressive and crucial to their promotion.

But it didn’t quite work out last time the striker was in the Premier League, with an underwhelming tally of three goals across two campaigns.

However, Bournemouth should back the 24-year old to succeed this time around and avoid any temptations to bring in a big-name forward that could unsettle the good chemistry of the team’s attack.

Lerma’s future at the Vitality Stadium was in doubt over the last 12 months but recent indications have been to suggest that he is happy to remain with the club.

But with a contract that expires in 2023, there will be doubts over his long-term future at the club until an extension is signed.

Making that a top priority over the summer would be a great step for Bournemouth to make and be a sign of their commitment to investing in the team to ensure their survival.

The likes of Robbie Brady and Gary Cahill were good additions to bring into the club, even if they only brought mixed levels of success.

But the time has come for Bournemouth now to move on from both of them.

Cahill still managed 22 league appearances compared to Brady’s six, but it is clear that both players have fallen down the pecking order of the team.

Despite their good experience, they have become dead weight that should be moved on to open up space in the wage bill.

Phillips proved a worthy loan signing when he arrived in January. His presence in the heart of the defence has improved the team’s stability at the back.

The defender has also good Premier League experience having played at the very top with Liverpool.

These are the ingredients to a great signing.

The Cherries should do everything they reasonably can to ensure the 25-year old remains at the club on a permanent basis for next season.

While Travers had a very good season in goals for Bournemouth, there is room to improve the team in that area.

Given the current market for goalkeepers, there are good options available to upgrade between the sticks.

The likes of Dean Henderson and Gavin Bazunu could both be available and would be definite improvements over the 23-year old.

It would by no means be a disaster if Bournemouth go into the new season with Travers still the first choice shot-stopper, but it is a position the team could improve upon.

Moore had a difficult start to life at the Vitality when he arrived from Cardiff City in January.

The striker picked up an injury that has left him unable to really break into the Bournemouth side so far.

He did pop up with the all-important goal which sealed promotion against Forest in April, but we didn’t get to see what he is truly capable of in Parker’s side.

Integrating him into the team in pre-season should be seen as a top priority for the coaching staff, as he could prove a very shrewd signing for the Premier League.

Despite having only spent two seasons in the Championship, there has been a decent amount of turnover in the Bournemouth squad.

There are not many players still left from the team’s absolute heights of their previous Premier League stint.

Bringing in some talent who have experience competing at a high level in the top flight should be seen as necessary.

Phillips would be a step in the right direction, but the team could use one or two more who have good experience competing at a high level in the Premier League, as opposed to scrapping away against relegation.
