HITC Sport understands that Sky Bet Championship side Wigan Athletic are interested in signing Nottingham Forest’s Jorge Grant.

Grant is out of contract at the City Ground in the summer, with no indication that he will remain with Forest next season.

The midfielder is currently on-loan in League Two with Notts County, where he has scored four goals since his transfer in January.

County recently moved eight-points clear of the relegation zone in League Two, with Grant playing a major role in their fight for survival, including scoring key goals against Hartlepool United and Plymouth Argyle.

Kevin Nolan’s side are keen to keep hold of the midfielder next season, but will face stiff competition, with Wigan and Fleetwood Town interested in securing Grant’s services.

Grant has been with parent-club Forest since 2013, making 17 first-team appearances, and it remains to be seen whether the 22-year old is in new manager, Mark Warburton’s plans.

Warburton was appointed at the City Ground yesterday on a two-and-a-half year deal, with the initial aim of keeping Forest in the Championship.

The Reds are currently 20th in the league table, just two-points outside the relegation zone with nine fixtures of the season remaining.
