Barnsley’s up-and-coming star Josh Kay has been attracting the attention of a number of sides reportedly interested in signing the midfielder on loan in the January transfer window, according to HITC Sport.
Josh Kay has made an astronomical rise from non-league football with AFC Fylde to the Sky Bet Championship, after joining Barnsley in the last winter transfer window following a successful trial.
The 19-year-old midfielder has yet to feature for the Tykes but his impressive performances for the Under-23 side has attracted attention from the lower leagues, and also from the Premier League as the midfielder has been scouted on a number occasions by Premier League clubs.
However, in the meantime, a number of National League sides including Tranmere Rovers, Eastleigh and Southport have all made enquiries about the availability of Kay, the most likely option if Kay was to leave would be a short loan spell from January until the end of the season.
Although the initial enquiries have been rejected by Barnsley as Paul Heckingbottom wants Kay to remain on the fringes of the first team set up, Heckingbottom may allow Kay to leave on loan if he has the opportunity to not only play regularly but also if he has the opportunity to gain much needed experience.
Barnsley fans, how do you feel about the news? Is Josh Kay a good prospect for the future?
