A host of Sky Bet Championship sides are interested in signing Fulham midfielder Kevin McDonald this month, according to reports from Sky Sports News.

The 30-year old played an integral role in the Cottagers' promotion to the Premier League last season for Slavisa Jokanovic, and was an everpresent for the London club, who defeated Aston Villa in the play-off final at Wembley.

But since the Slovenian's departure from Craven Cottage, the Scottish international has fallen massively out of favour under Claudio Ranieri, playing just eight minutes of football under the former Leicester City and Chelsea manager.

Reports have now emerged that the midfielder will be allowed to leave Fulham on loan this month, with a number of unnamed Championship clubs weighing up a move to land the Scot.

Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday were all reportedly interested in signing him last season, however it remains to be seen if they are to reignite interest in the man who has been promoted from the second tier twice in his career.

The Verdict

McDonald would be an exceptional signing for any team chasing promotion in the Championship, and it's quite surprising to see him become out of favour at Fulham.

He may be ageing slightly, but he was superb in midfield for Fulham last season, and has been a standout performer in this division for years.

In terms of who could sign him, I think Nottingham Forest should definitely reignite interest in McDonald. They have a plethora of talented midfielders in their ranks, but McDonald just seems like the perfect Martin O'Neill signing to me.
