With just 15 days to go until the Portsmouth kick-off their 2019/20 League One campaign against Shrewsbury Town, the club have finally revealed their new home kit.

Whereas the shirt plays homage to the club's tradition by sporting a blue background, the inclusion of a bright red trim is a controversial choice given the colour's association with arch-rivals Southampton.

Accompanied by white shorts and red socks, the first competitive use of the top is expected to occur when Portsmouth face Birmingham at Fratton Park in the League Cup on August 6th.

Speaking to the club's official website about the reveal, full-back Lee Brown said: "The players are always eager to see what the new kits are like because you'll be wearing it throughout the season.

"Nike are obviously a quality brand and we're lucky to have them.

"I'm delighted with what they've produced for us again."

Having seen the club announce the kit on Twitter earlier today, plenty of Pompey fans took to the social media platform to react to the news.

Here are some of the best responses...

Having narrowly missed out on promotion last season after being defeated by Sunderland in the play-off semi-finals in May, Portsmouth will unquestionably be aiming to bring their recent hiatus from the Championship to an end next year.

Although losing Matt Clarke earlier this summer would have been a blow for Pompey boss Kenny Jackett, he will still be quietly confident that his side can thrive in the absence of the defender following the arrival of seven new players.
